About Clara
Clinical expertise and technical capability, working together to improve mental health training.
Our Mission
Mental health training depends on practice — real conversations with real people in sensitive, high-stakes situations. But opportunities to practise are limited. Placement hours are scarce, role-play can only go so far, and supervisors can't observe every interaction.
Clara exists to close that gap. We're building an AI-powered platform that gives trainees the volume and variety of practice they need, while giving supervisors the visibility and tools to guide their development effectively.
What Drives Us
Clinical Rigour
Clara is shaped by real clinical training experience. Every feature is designed around the way supervisors and trainees actually work — not around what looks good in a demo.
Trainee-Centred Design
We believe trainees learn best when they can practise freely, make mistakes safely, and receive structured, timely feedback. Clara is built to support that cycle.
Meaningful Impact
Better-trained practitioners deliver better care. Everything we build is measured against a simple question: does this help produce more capable, more confident clinicians?
Who We Are
Clara is founded by Dr. Rachel Holden DClinPsy, an experienced clinical psychologist with deep expertise in mental health training and supervision, and Jack Rogers, an experienced data scientist with a background in AI, data engineering, and product development.
We started Clara because we saw the same problem from two different angles. Rachel saw trainees who needed more practice than the system could provide, and supervisors stretched too thin to give detailed feedback on every interaction. Jack saw a space where AI could make a genuine, practical difference — not replacing human judgement, but augmenting it.
Together, we're building the training tool we wish had existed: one that takes clinical training seriously, uses technology thoughtfully, and puts practitioners' development at the centre of everything it does.
